Again Switzerland, the Alps. The second time I visit this country this year to see Roger.

I've attended the show in Crans Montana last March. Still winter time, and it was a solo show (Roger and Aaron) Click on to see the report.

But now, summer time and playing with band !!! Actually a long drive, almost 3.000 km with my own car from Barcelona, but worthy ! In fact the day after I met Norbert, the previous Roger's saxophone player, performing with Joe Cocker in Montreux Jazz Festival.

The venue: just a little square in the middle of the village, the balconys next to the stage.... A crowded place!
But nice stage and sound.

About the show: What a magic night, great show ! I met there good fans.
In the first speech Roger said: "I'm thinking today, wow, what a tour.....London, Barcelona, Stuttgart.... and now .... Appenzell ! " :o)
LOL. Everybody laughing.... himself too.

Roger was gratefull towards the people who came from other areas to see him, as usual. He appreciates the support. He felt happy and I saw lots of happy faces around.

No seats, so everybody stand up near the stage, that makes the difference --> It was a big party!

We've enjoyed a lot, every song, every little detail. Wow. Great show. All songs sounded great.
Roger had little problems with his voice at the end of the show (three last tracks, maybe due to cool air when dark) but his band and the audience were singing a lot helping Roger !
So the problem was only a little "anecdote", and the songs were a big party anyway, everybody singing.

As in Barcelona, we saw some mini-cameras (Go-Pro type) around the stage, installed by Roger's team, in order to produce a new DVD for sure. Even I saw Roger's team recording some scenes from the sides and back of stage during the show, looking for interesting and funny images. The new DVD will surprise to all of us, for sure !  Stay tuned.

After show I was invited to visit the Tour Bus. A funny thing for me, the first time I see this ! (well I saw the bus in Barcelona two weeks ago, but I did't get in)
In case you don't know what's that, I can tell you this is like a "little hotel", you know: sofas, beds, kitchen, toilette. A kind of motorhome.
I don't feel confortable sleeping in a train. I did it several times in my life, and I never had a good sleep (movement, noises,...). So I can not understand how they can sleep during the route. But they do it, and they said "it tasted good" LOL
Some "sofas" in the first half of the bus, and the bunk beds in the back. I saw the beds of all the crew, even Roger's and Linda's bed. Funny !
Well, for them it's a good tool, they can save lot ot time, avoiding airports, etc,... traveling from point to point, and also they can carry the equipment, electronics, drum kit, carpets, etc,.. in the back trailer.

Appenzell, Suiza, 19 Julio 2013 

Suiza de nuevo ! Los Alpes!. La segunda vez que visito éste país éste año para ver a Roger.
Ya estuve en el show de Crans Montana el pasado Marzo. Aún era invierno, y fué un show solo con Aaron. Clickar para ver el report.

Pero ésta vez, verano y concierto con banda !!! Un largo viaje de cerca de 3.000 km desde Barcelona en mi coche que valió la pena. Por cierto que aproveché para ver a Norbert, el anterior saxo de Roger, al dia siguiente en Montreux tocando con Joe Cocker. (el famoso Jazz Festival de Montreux)

El recinto: la pequeña plaza central del pueblo, los balcones tocando el escenario.... un lugar muy concurrido!
Pero el escenario y el sonido estaban perfectos.

El concierto, pues como siempre fantástico, una noche mágica, gran show ! Me encontré allí algunos buenos fans.
En sus primeras palabras para el publico Roger dijo "Estaba pensando hoy, guau, vaya tour.....London, Barcelona, Stuttgart.... y ahora ... Appenzell ! " :o)
Riendose él mismo y toda la audiencia.

Roger mostró su agradecimiento por toda la gente que había venido de otras áreas para ver el concierto, como hace habitualmente. El aprecia de corazón el apoyo de la gente. Se le veía feliz y también felices a todos los asistentes.
Al no haber asientos, todo el mundo depie unos junto a otros tan cerca del escenario, eso marca una gran diferencia --> Fué una gran fiesta!

Disfrutamos un montón, cada canción, cada pequeño detalle. Guau ! un show genial. Todo sonó redondo y fantástico.
Roger sufrió una pequeña afonía en su voz en los 3 últimos temas, quizás por el aire algo frió al anochecer, pero su banda y el público cantaron con todas sus fuerzas para ayudarle !
Así que el problema quedó solo en una pequeña anécdota, y las canciones sonaron genial y fueron una fiesta igualmente, todo el mundo cantando.

Como en Barcelona, también pudimos apreciar que el equipo de Roger instaló gran cantidad de mini-cámaras (tipo Go-Pro) por diferentes puntos del escenario, con objeto seguramente de preparar un nuevo DVD de la gira. Incluso personal del equipo de Roger tomaba grabaciones desde ángulos insólitos, buscando planos divertidos o interesantes. Sin duda nos sorprenderá! Estaremos atentos.

Tras el show fuí invitado a visitar el Tour bus. Para el que no lo sepa, es un bus donde se desplazan por las noches mientras duermen, una especie de coche cama, con sofas, lavabo, cocina y camas.
Algo muy curioso para mi, que no había visto ninguno ! (bueno, en realidad había visto el bus en Barcelona dos semanas antes, pero no lo visité por dentro)
Yo soy incapaz de dormir en un tren hotel (los tradicionales Talgo). Lo he probado varias veces en mi vida y para mi entre el movimiento y los ruidos es como una pequeña tortura.
Así que no entiendo como ellos pueden dormir durante la ruta, pero ellos dicen que el bus es cómodo.
Hay unos cómodos butacones en la parte delantera del bus, y las literas en la trasera. Vi las camas de todos los miembros. incluso las camas de Roger y Linda. Curioso !
Bueno, para ellos es una buena herramienta, ya que ahorran mucho tiempo en desplazamientos, esperas, aeropuertos, etc,... viajando de punto a punto ... y además les permite transportar todo su equipo, aparatos electronicos, la batería, alfombras del escenario, etc,..
en el remolque trasero.

Seguimos informando ! espero veros en alguno de los conciertos de Roger de éste año.

Roger Hodgson - Appenzell. Mi primer concierto de Roger
Un concierto genial en un rincón incomparable.

El concierto del 19 de Julio del 2013 fué el primer concierto en el que veía en directo a Roger Hodgson y fué toda una experiencia por su música sobretodo, su buena música, pero también por su calidez hacia el público allí reunido en un pequeño pueblecito de Suiza. El viaje desde Barcelona mereció mucho la pena sin duda.

A pesar de llevar tantos años tocando por todo el mundo sigue haciendo cada concierto como si fuese el único, dirigiendo unas palabras al público para que terminásemos de acabar rendidos a sus pies si es que había alguien que con la primera canción no se había rendido ya.

Su voz, su manera de tocar el teclado, la guitarra, la batería electrónica, espectacular en directo, suena igual que en su época en Supertramp. Y que decir de los músicos que le acompañan, en una palabra geniales, todos, pero el momento de Aaron al saxo y la flauta fue impresionante. Todo sonó perfecto. El vivir el concierto de pie tan cerca del escenario fue una experiencia inolvidable.

Después de acabar el concierto tuve la oportunidad, el honor, de conocer en persona a Roger, que me dedicó un autógrafo. Lo que más me sorprendió de él es que a pesar de ser toda una estrella internacional es una persona muy cercana. No va de estrella ni mucho menos y eso a los fans gusta y mucho. También conocí a Linda su manager, a sus músicos y técnicos, fué genial, un final de concierto perfecto!!

My first Roger's show
A great concert in a charming place.
The concert on July 19, 2013 in Appenzell was the first time I saw Roger Hodgson live in concert, and it was a great experience, due to his music especially, good music, but also for his warmth to all of us, the audience gathered there in a small village of Switzerland. The journey from Barcelona was really worth it, without question.

Despite so many years playing all over the world he's doing every show as if it were the unique, speaking nice words to the audience so we felt bewithched from the very beginning.

His voice, his playing the keyboard, guitar, electronic drums, spectacular live show, sounds like his time in Supertramp. And what about the musicians, absolutelly great, all of them, and Aaron on sax and flute was impressive. Everything sounded perfect. Enjoying this live concert standing so close to the stage was an unforgettable experience.

After the concert I had the opportunity and honor, to meet Roger in person, who dedicated an autograph to me. What surprised me most about him is that I felt him very close person, despite being a very important international star. He doesn't show himself as a pop star, but as a humble person, and the fans like it a lot. I also met his manager Linda, his musicians and technicians, it was great, a perfect concert ending!
