Initial name: Sleeping with the enemy

The first solo album by Roger, one year after the split

Recorded in Unicorn studios, Nevada City (California) Released October 6, 1984

Videoclips: "Had a dream" and "In Jeopardy".

The initial title for the album released in 1984 was "Sleeping with the enemy". The album was ready (mixed) in May 1983, before the Supertramp tour. The tracklist was:

A-side: Sleeping With The Enemy, Hooked On a problem, I Knew It Well, Land Ho
B-side: Love is a thousand times, Say Goodbye, The Journey, Everyone dies
But after the succesful Supertramp last tour, Roger changed his mind, went to the studio again, and changed the energy of the album, too intimate in the begining, keeping only couple songs from his original idea. And actually the tracks "Had a dream" and "Hooked on a problem" were rejected from previous album "Breakfast in America". The song "Land ho" was included later in "Hai Hai" and "Love is a thousand times" and "Say Goodbye" were included in "Open the door".

Aparece un año después de abandonar Supertramp, aunque llevaba un par de años trabajando en el. Roger produce y realiza los arreglos en solitario de su primer disco, tocando prácticamente todos los instrumentos, excepto en algunos pocos temas. Este álbum salió a la venta el 6 de octubre de 1984. Fue disco platino en Canadá en tan sólo un mes. Curiosamente a principios de 1983 el disco estaba ya preparado y se iba a llamar "Sleeping with the enemy", con un cierto tono intimista, pero tras la exitosa gira 83 con Supertramp, Roger prefirió darle otro enfoque y cambiar algunas canciones del repertorio inicial dándole más vitalidad y energía. Volvió al estudio a grabar algunos temas más y el lanzamiento se retrasó.

El contenido inicial era el siguiente:
CARA A: Sleeping With The Enemy, Hooked On a problem, I Knew It Well, Land Ho
CARA B: Love is a thousand times, Say Goodbye, The Journey, Everyone dies

De este proyecto inicial solo se respetaron dos canciones y el resto fueron incluyendose (algunas) en discos posteriores.
Los temas "Had a dream" y "Hooked on a problem" eran inicialmente para el disco Breakfast in America de Supertramp, pero fueron descartadas en su momento y Roger decidió incluirlas aquí.
Se lanzaron videoclips de "Had a dream" e "In Jeopardy".
