John Helliwell and Jesse Siebenberg and the MANDOKI SOULMATES 2024
Munich, August 15, 2024
Both members of Supertramp are part of the tour “Mandoki Soulmates” in August 2024. Two concerts in Munich and Budapest. They already played in some of the previous editions, especially John who has been in the project for several years. He has spoken to me about it several times over the years, and I have finally been able to enjoy it, much better than I expected !!! What a big and nice surprise !!!
You can easily find on YouTube many videos and documentaries of Mandoki Soulmates concerts in Europe in recent years.
Superb show, members from important bands, and also other great musicians and choirs, led by Leslie Mandoki, master of ceremonies. Always on big arenas. I’ve attended the one in Residenz, downtown Munich.
A three hours show, performing songs from all their bands, and mainly songs from Leslie Mandoki last album (Memories of our future). A really great show !!!
It was a surprise for me to hear the hit «Died in your arms«, sung by Nick Van Eede (Cutting Crew). Nice memories from my youth…. and this guy, 66 years old, still keeps the same great voice !!! Actually, he was the singer for most of the songs during the show. I was lucky enough to talk to him after show, and he’s a gentelman, great man.
Al Di Meola performed one song from his last album, and he played his guitars (acoustic and electric) during the whole show. A luxury. Leslie Mandoki and Tony Carey also sung some of the songs.
And, of course, the audience enjoyed the Supertramp songs, performed by Jesse on keyboards and acoustic guitar and voice, and John on saxophones/clarinet. Awesome !!!

Funny story: after the show, someone from the audience who thought I was someone from the staff when he saw me chatting with John and Jesse, came up to me and told me that he was glad to see Mark Hart on stage. I had to explain to him that the artist wearing glasses who sang the Supertramp songs was not Mark, but Jesse Siebenberg !!! Even tought they don’t look alike phisically or vocally, and Leslie introduced all the band members, the guy didn’t seem very convinced, haha
What a great evening!. The Mandoki Soulmates are a great team, I really enjoyed the show, and I had a good time with all of them in the after show party. I felt like I was in a family.
If you have the chance don’t miss it !!! It’s really worth it !!!

MUNICH 15 AGOSTO
Los dos miembros de Supertramp están participando en la gira “Mandoki Soulmates” en Agosto de 2024. Dos conciertos en Munich y Budapest. Ya participaron en algunas ediciones de años anteriores, especialmente John, que lleva varios años en el proyecto. El me ha ido hablando de ésto desde hace años, y finalmente he tenido la suerte de disfrutarlo. Mucho mejor de lo que esperaba !!! Me ha sorprendido gratamente !!!
Podéis encontrar facilmente en youtube muchos videos y documentales de los conciertos de Mandoki Soulmates por Europa en los últimos años.
Grandioso espectáculo el que ofrece ésta super banda, compuesta de miembros de varias bandas importantes y musicos de renombre, capitaneados por Leslie Mandoki, maestro de ceremonias, y acompañados con algunos musicos de soporte coros. Y siempre en grandes escenarios. En mi caso he podido disfrutar el show de Munich, en el patio de Residenz, en el centro de la ciudad.
El show duró tres horas, y fueron interpretando temas famososde todas las bandas, pero sobre todo temas de Leslie Mandoki y su ultimo album (Memories of our Future). Un gran show !!!
Fué una gran sorpresa para mi escucha el gran éxito de los 80 «Died in your arms«, cantado por Nick Van Eede (Cutting Crew). Canción reconocible desde las primeras notas…. y éste tipo, con 66 años, sigue manteniendo esa gran voz !!! De hecho fué el cantante de la mayor parte de temas del show. Tuve la gran suerte de charlar con el tras el show y es todo un gentelman, gran tipo.
Al Di Meola interpretó a la guitarra acústica un tema de su último album, y fué tocando sus guitarras (acustica y electrica) durante todo el show. Todo un lujo. Leslie Mandoki y Tony Carey también cantaron algunos de los temas del show.
Por supuesto el público disfrutó muchísimo con los temas de Supertramp, interpretados por Jesse al teclado y a la guitarra acústica y voz, y John con los saxos/clarinete. Ambos mantienen su gran clase !!!
Los temas que interpretaron de Supertramp fueron “The Logical song” y “Give a Little bit”, compuestos por el gran Roger Hodgson.
Una historia divertida: tras el concierto, alguien del publico que me tomó por alguien de la organizacion al verme charlar con John y Jesse, se me acercó y me dijo que estaba contento de haber visto a Mark Hart en el escenario. Tuve que explicarle que el artista con gafas que cantó los temas de Supertramp no era Mark , sino que se trataba de Jesse Siebenberg !!! A pesar de que no se parecen nada fisicamente ni en la voz, y de que Leslie presentó a todos los miembros de la banda, el tipo no parecía muy convencido….. jaja
Una gran velada. Además todo el equipo es muy profesional y con un muy buen ambiente. Disfruté muchísimo del espectáculo, y lo pasamos fenomenal en la fiesta after show hasta la madrugada, me sentí en familia
Si tenéis ocasión no os lo perdáis, vale realmente la pena !!!
