Mont Soleil festival in Saint Imier 26th August 2005
SWITZERLAND: Rivers overflow, flooding, festivals, music, friendship and others natural disasters..... (part I )
Last 9th July in Madrid I said to Roger "see you next year !!! " when we said goodbye, but some good friends told me the idea of a nice weekend in Switzerland attending a couple of shows of Roger Hodgson. Interlaken next to the Jungfrau sounded good for me, I don't know the Alps so I changed my mind finally :o) .
The first nigth was a summer festival in the Mont Soleil, Saint Imier (french side). The stage in the middle of the mountains, a long and bending road, one hour drive from the valley, but full of people there, merchandising stands, bars, sausages, chiness-food and even mexican-food, etc .
The show of Roger was at 11 pm, really cold temperature and a lot of mud in the ground, I weared my mountain boots and clothing fortunatelly !
Roger weared just a thin white shirt, and vapour from his mouth when singing from the begining ....... (really cold ......) so, his voice was self damaging little by little and after three songs Roger felt a little bit loss of voice.
In spite of it, Roger was able to sing the whole show and the ambiance was great.
The audience surrended, singing all the songs, having lot of fan, Roger too, he did a good effort with his voice until the end. Tell you the truth it was a party, everybody enjoyed a lot.
When I met Roger briefly after the show in the backstage, later than 1 am , he has not too good voice for speaking with friends (aphony) ........
I was afraid for that problem for the next day, but he told me his voice will be OK ( I didn't believe him because my voice is too fragil, but I'm not a singer).
Roger played 18 songs, similar setlist than France last month, but shorter.
A nice mix of romantic/spiritual songs like "Lovers in the wind" or "Even in the quietest moments", and lively/happy songs like "Dreamer" and "Give a little bit".
Again, Roger offered his unpublished song "Keep the Pigeons Warm" with a warm welcome from the audicence.
He spoke to the audience in basic french language, joking all the time, very close-connection to the people. The audience was acclaiming Roger during the show and at the end the audience asked a second encore during several minutes !!!!, but the Roger's voice needed a rest .... and after the encore Roger went out, but the people continued screaming and clapping for a long while.......

Festival Mont Soleil en Saint Imier 26 Agosto 2005
El 9 de Julio en Madrid le dije a Roger "Hasta el año que viene...." pero unos amigos me animaron a liarme la manta a la cabeza de nuevo y como no conzoco los Alpes me animé a ir un largo fin de semana a Suiza aprovechando dos conciertos programados de Roger Hodgson.
La primera noche era un festival de verano en el Mont Soleil, Saint Imier (zona francófona). Un escenario en lo alto de las montañas, una larga carretera de curvas para llegar hasta ahí, pero lleno de gente, chiringuitos y ambiente.
El concierto de Roger era a las 11 de la noche, la temperatura muy fresca y lleno de barro, menos mal que iba preparado con ropa y botas de montaña !
Roger salió solo con una fina camisa blanca, y cuando cantaba salía vaho por su boca (frio.....) lo que provocó que a las pocas canciones su voz comenzara a resentirse, carraspear y apagarse poco a poco. A pesar de ello el ambiente fenomenal.
Todo el mundo muy entregado, cantando y animando y Roger dando todo de si, a pesar de los problemas con la voz a medida que pasaba el rato. La verdad que fué una fiesta y todos disfrutamos de lo lindo.
Cuando visité a Roger en el camerino poco después, más de la una de la madrugada, no le quedaba mucha voz ........ me preocupaba su voz para el día siguiente pero me dijo que estaría bien.
Roger tocó 18 canciones, algo parecido al concierto de Francia del mes pasado, pero con algunas canciones menos.
Se mezclaron temas intimos como Lovers in the wind o Even in the quietest moments con temas alegres como Dreamer y Give a little bit.
Hubo momentos para todo. Volvió a interpretar la canción inédita Keep the Pigeons Warm que tuvo muy buena acogida.
Se dirigió siempre al público en francés básico y siempre bromeando, muy cercano a la gente.
El público aclamó a Roger todo el concierto y al final estuvieron varios minutos reclamando la vuelta de Roger, pero la voz no estaba para alegrías .... y depués del bis ya no volvió a salir a pesar de las peticiones.
Yo estaba junto a la manager en un lateral del escenario cuando le hacía señas al presentador de que no podía salir otra vez ..... mientras la gente no paraba de gritar.
